What is ELOP?
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) provides additional funding to support after school programs, Fall & Spring Break intersessions, and summer school programs for students in grades TK-6. The funding, authorized by AB 130, has enabled NextGen Kids to offer Expanded Learning Services.
What is NextGen Kids?
NGK is funded by the ELOP and free to all participating students at Stockton Collegiate. The After School Program is located at 1 N Sutter St for qualifying elementary students and designed to assist students in grades K-6 by providing a safe & supportive environment to study, learn and have fun after the regular school day. The program operates every school day from school dismissal until 6:00pm. NGK adheres to the following program structure, as required by the ELOP: *Educational and Literacy Component that includes tutoring/ homework assistance in the core subjects (language arts, math, history/ social science, and science) *Educational Enrichment Component that offers students engaging activities in a variety of areas which may include visual and performing arts; physical activity; career technical education; prevention and intervention strategies; science, technology, engineering, and math; and more. *Nutritious snack or meals offered daily that meet requirements in CA Education Code
What are the program goals?
The Expanded Learning - NGK Program is an extension of the school day and offers academic and enrichment opportunities. Studies show that participation in an After School Program increases students' attachment to their school, improves academic performance, and provides a safe environment for all students. Participating students in the program will experience: *Safe and Supportive Environment *Active and Engaged Learning Skill building *Youth Voice and Leadership *Healthy Choices and Behaviors *Diversity Access and Equity
When and where is the program?
During the school year, NGK is open every regular school day from school dismissal to 6:00 PM. The program is also held from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM during Fall, Spring, and Summer Intersession. We are located at Stockton Collegiate: 1 N Sutter St. Stockton, CA 95202
Registration?
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to the following: *Homeless youth (McKinney-Vento Act) *Foster youth *Siblings of students enrolled in the program
Facts and Questions
How do I enroll my child in the Afterschool Program?
*Fill out the online waitlist form.
How much does the program cost?
*The program is offered at no charge to parents.
What time do I pick up my child?
*At the earliest: After the first hour and a half of the program. At the latest: 6:00 PM (5 PM during Fall, Spring, and Summer Intersession). Students who remain after sign-out will accrue removal points and may be removed from the Program. Please see Program Policies for details.
How many days does my child have to attend the NGK program?
*Per our grant, students must attend the program daily to participate. There are early release and absence codes for student illnesses, appointments, or unforeseen circumstances that result in an absence.
Can my child walk home from the program?
*Yes. A Walk Home Permission Form must be filled out and submitted before the student is permitted to walk home.
Do I need to re-enroll every year?
*No. Students are rolled over to the next school year.
Does my child stay on the waitlist until they are invited to the program?
*Yes.
How will I know if my child is accepted into the Program?
*The Site Leader will call you with an invitation to attend.
Are there programs during fall, spring, or summer break?
*Yes. We offer Fall, Spring, and Summer Intersession.
